A Brief History:
The earliest evidence of cigar box guitar was around 1840-1860. In 1884, the co-founder of Boy Scouts, Daniel Carter Beard established plans for a "box banjo". The Great Depression in the 1930s caused many to build there own instruments if they wanted music. They were usually made from an old box, a piece of a broom handle, and screen door wires. There is now a national cigar box museum in New York.

- the distance for the frets place is calculated and measured based on scale
